Regenerative energy
In the sector of power generation regenerative energy heavily gains importance: Currently about 20 percent of the energy generated in Germany is won from regenerative energy. 20 percent of the overall energy demand in Europe shall be produced by regenerative energy by the year 2020. On the long run (by 2050) the goal is set at 50 percent.
A considerable increase of investment within various economic branches is to be expected, since, apart from power production, regenerative energy includes heat generation as well as the transport sector.
The following generating alternatives are relevant in the power industry:
- Biomass (among biogas plant, biomass (combined) heat and power station and vegetable oil-block heating station)
- Geothermal energy
- Solar energy (photovoltaic and solar thermal)
- Water power
- Wind power
